自宅待機を命ぜられて時間が余っていたので、ひさしぶりにFreeBSDをインストール。機材は銀座堂さんからいただいた、ThinkPad 240X。フロッピーからしか起動できないので、いったん7.2-RELEASEを入れてから、一晩buildworldして入れ替え。

ってやって*1から、wpa_supplicantでセキュリティの設定をする必要あり。はじめwiなカードで設定しててドライバ側の対応不足と気づくまでに時間かかってしまった。

- Logic Studioで使える、おすすめAUプラグイン、その６。
今回は「ステレオ系」
Logic Studioでは5.1chのサラウンドも扱えるが、音楽の場合は基本、ステレオだろう。配布用として、CD-Rに焼いたりするときには、ステレオにするしかないからだ。
ある音源やトラックに、ステレオ感を加味するには、エコー、ディレイ、リバーブ、コーラスなどのエフェクトを組み合わせてかければ、それなりにステレオ感を増すことができる。
もっと簡単にステレオ感を「増感」させたいときに役に立つのが、以下のプラグイン。
StereoTools (Sonalksis)
これはかなり重宝するステレオツールだ。
音源の周波数によって音像の位置がワイドに広がる。その広がり具合を、パネルの画面上でも表現してくれるので、どの程度のステレオ感を出すかを調整しやすい。単純なエコーやリバーブとは違った広がり方なので、メリハリをつけるのに適している。
私はこれをけっこう使用している(^_^)。
ちなみに、デモ版はSonalksisの製品のバンドルが一緒に入ってくるので、そのほかのプラグインも試すことができる。気に入ったものを正規に購入してアクティベーションするといいだろう。
Stereoizer (NuGen Audio)
前出のStereoToolsと効果としては似ているが、Stereoizerの方がよりワイド感があり周波数の違いによる際立ち感が強くなる。
どっちを使うかは、音源の種類や狙いたい効果によって使い分けるといいだろう。
パネルはシンプルだが、プリセットがいくつかあるので、特徴的な効果は試しやすい。
私は２つとも購入したが、ケースバイケースで使い分けている。
余談だが、音源がモノラルの場合、Logic Studioのステレオディレイやコーラスでステレオ化して、上記のプラグインを適用するといい。 -

OK, so why did you decide to join P&G?
Well, there are three reasons.
First, I wanted to learn the successful
global business management system and processes.
I thought P&G was successful global business system and model,
which was still difficult to see in Japanese company.
So their business model is unique.
Yes, exactly.
Second, I wanted to strengthen my strategic
and overall business planning skills,
when I was in the business school,
I relatively preferred human or social scientific fields,
like marketing or human resources management.
After joining the business strategy course,
I realized that importance of supporting my strategy or logic
by numerical data.
This is why I choose to join finance
where I could manage to learn
both business side and numerical side as well.
Data is important.
OK, and third reason?
I really wanted to strengthen my English communication skills in my 20th,
I thought P&G would give me various opportunities
to make me communicate in English.
Could you tell me in what kind of situations you use English at work?
Basically, all meetings and e-mail communication are in English.
So what do you keep in mind when communicating English?
When I communicate with people,
I try to switch and adjust my communication style to fit the situation.
The difference between Japanese and English is not only language,
but the way of thinking, cultural and even historical background,
so it was tough to communicate just by translating
directly from Japanese to English.
And what kind of cultural differences do you think there are?
For example, as we all know well,
we think it is important to be polite
when we communicate in Japanese.
But in English, I think being confident is important.
At first I spoke politely in English,
but I realized that in order to communicate better,
I needed to switch the communication style to match the English style.
To do this, I try to simplify what I wanted to say
before getting into the conversation or discussion.
Umm, simple and direct.
Well, our theme for November is teleconferencing,
can you tell us about your experience
with teleconferences with your counterparts?
OK, I think that preparation is key ///
for having good communication via teleconferences.
We cannot exchange no-verbal sign during teleconferences,
So I prepare materials for supporting verbal communication.
What kind of material do you prepare?
Prior to the meeting I always send the meeting agenda,
including meeting objective and clear outcome from the meeting.
So after the meeting you send a summary.
Yes. I see.
Taiki, you seem to be a very confident business manager,
we’re curious to know what your goals are for the future.
In the future I want to contribute to the growth
of young people in Japan,
whose potentials haven’t been fully leveraged there.
